Welcome to The Maritime Health Partnership

We are pleased to be your GP Service Provider at Albion Place Medical Practice from the 1st January 2022.

Quality care and patient safety is paramount to us and we are working with commissioners to address the specific issues raised by CQC relating to the services previously provided by DMC.

Maritime Health welcomes the opportunity to deliver healthcare at Albion Place and on-board the existing staff team including GPs, ANPs, Clinical Leads and Administrators as part of a wider workforce model.

We look forward to working with registered patients and supporting health and care needs, and thank patients in advance for support during the transition.

 

New Beginnings / Increase Our Workforce

Since taking on the services at the 1st January 2022, we have been focused on improving access, strengthening procedures and introducing a new leadership structure and workforce model and skill mix.

Whilst this will continue to be a ‘work in progress’ we hope you will soon begin to notice changes for the better.

We are pleased to advise that we have a number of new faces joining the Albion team in coming weeks, including GPs, Paramedics, Complex Care Nurses etc and look forward to welcoming them on-board and delivering improved care tailored to the needs of local people.

Patient Participation Group PPG Chair's Statement

Maritime Health Partnership (MHP) has taken responsibility for Albion Place. There is a clear difference in approach compared with DMC. It took the new management just two days to reverse the old ‘closed door’ policy and do away with the unsafe and insecure queues outside Boots. Action has already been taken to tackle the subjects raised in the last CQC report as areas of immediate concern.

New staff have been recruited, and attempts continue to recruit more. Telephone answering has been removed from the reception desk and is now located in a state of the art telephone hub in the admin area. MHP has agreed to use bulk text messaging to improve communication with the majority of patients, including distributing a link to this newsletter.

It has clearly grasped the need not only to improve services for its patients, but to communicate much better what it is doing, and what needs to be done. What we have seen so far is very encouraging, but there is much still to do, and this will take time. MHP is in daily contact with the CCG to review progress, and it is clear that it has a sensible view of the way ahead.

The staff at the practice deserve patience from its patients over the next few months

Additional Access to Medical Services

Improved Access

The surgery is pleased to offer additional face to face appointments for registered patients.

These appointments are covered by West Kent Health at:

Winter Access Fund

We are pleased to offer ‘additional appointments’ at Albion Place following a successful bid for funding through the DoH Winter Access Fund scheme which aims to increase capacity in Primary Care to better meet increasing demand and winter pressures.

Speak Up Session

As from week commencing 7th February the Practice will be introducing ‘SPEAK UP’ sessions which are weekly clinics held with the Practice Manager offering bookable slots for patients to air their views, raise any concerns or share ideas on how we can improve services. These appointments are available in person, via telephone or video call and can be booked via our eConsult service available through the practice website or by speaking to one of our team.

Learning Disability Health Check

People with a learning disability often have poorer physical and mental health than other people. This does not need to be the case.

It is important that everyone over the age of 14 who is on the learning disability register has an annual health check.

Shingles Vaccinations

You're eligible for the shingles vaccine when you are aged 70 to 79.

A vaccine to prevent shingles, a common, painful skin disease, is available on the NHS to people in their 70s.
